Why send Word files as PDF
A Word file can look different on someone else’s computer if they have other fonts or another version of Word, and it can be edited by mistake. A PDF looks the same everywhere, which is why job applications, schools and offices usually ask for one.
How to convert Word to PDF

Frequently asked questions
Will the layout stay the same?
Text, tables, pictures and page breaks are kept. Complex layouts, text boxes and fonts that aren’t on your device may look slightly different, so check the PDF before you send it.
Can I select the text in the PDF?
No. Pages are saved as images, so the text can’t be selected or searched.
What about old .doc files?
Open them in Word or another editor and save as .docx first.
