When to turn a PNG into a JPG
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which is great for screenshots and logos but makes photos large. JPG is built for photos: it drops detail you can’t easily see, so the same picture is often several times smaller. Use JPG when a site or form has a size limit, or when you want to send many photos quickly.
How to convert
- Choose your PNG files in the box above.
- JPG is selected. Around 80–90% quality is a good balance between size and sharpness.
- Press Convert and save the results. Each file shows how much smaller it became.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG can’t store transparency, so transparent areas become white. Keep PNG (or use WebP) if you need a see-through background.
Should screenshots be JPG?
Screenshots with text often look crisper as PNG. Converting them to JPG can add faint blur around letters, especially at low quality.
Is there a file limit?
No limit is set by the site. Very large images may be slower on phones.
